Rogue River Fishing Report

Fished the Rogue River in downtown Rockford, Michigan. Water was warm. And quite low. Also dirty. Many people fishing, but not many people catching fish. I fished below the dam to the park, stopping in whatever remained of the holes to drift nymphs through. I went with nymphs here because I didn't see any service action, nor did I see fish, when was wading. Figured hatchery-raised trout can't resist something with a beadhead.

Weather

Was a beautiful afternoon. Sunny, and high temps in the upper 70s. I checked water temperature in two different locations. Water temp was 69 degrees Fahrenheit. Barometer was 29.09. Wind was negligible.

Results

Results were mixed. Saw no trout or steelhead in the river. Managed to catch two creek chubs. I did see that someone close to the dam was able to catch a small smallmouth bass. But that's it. Hopefully with some rain we'll have some more fish venture back into where they normally hold.
