Fishing in Rocky Mountain National Park
Had the opportunity to do some fishing in Rocky Mountain National Park recently. Absolutely amazing place. Over the course of four days, we managed to catch some brown trout, brook trout, rainbow trout, and cutthroat trout. Emergers and nymphs worked very well, as did our Elk Hair Caddis. Our beadhead prince nymph was the key to brown trout and brook trout. Our Purple Haze emerger pattern was favorited by the cutthroats. Our Classic Trout Fly Set was a great kit for this trip.

Locations we fished in Rocky Mountain National Park
We fished a few locations on Glacier Creek. Also Loch Lake (the head waters), Sprague Lake, and then the Big Thompson in Moraine Park. Had some wonderful encounters (from a distance) with elk while fishing.
Sprague Lake had a couple of rainbow trout. But was difficult fishing due to the wind, as it is very exposed.
Each of these areas are very high-pressured. Some of our fish took some real work to locate. The Big Thompson in Moraine Park, while lots of fish, is difficult to be successful on. Lots of pressure and wind. But it's gorgeous.
